We practice a new and advanced field of pulmonary medicine.

About Lung Health Solutions

We offer state-of-the-art lung health care to patients in an outpatient setting at community hospitals in the Greater Philadelphia area and throughout Pennsylvania.

Cancer Center Care in Your Home Community

Lung Health Solutions is a medical practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and other chronic lung conditions, founded by Dr. Nina Maouelainin and Dr. Evan Lenkowsky. Practicing a new and advanced field of pulmonary medicine, we use minimally invasive, state-of-the-art techniques and procedures to make diagnoses earlier, and treat patients sooner and more aggressively than the current health care system allows.

Mostly, interventional pulmonology services are only available in large city hospitals capable of delivering tertiary-level care. Because getting to these locations is not very convenient for most people, we decided to offer a more practical option. Essentially, we come to you!

Our mobile health unit is made up of physicians, respiratory therapists, and nurses, allowing us to provide a comprehensive interventional pulmonology program to patients in an outpatient or ambulatory setting at community hospitals. We work in the Greater Philadelphia area and throughout Pennysylvania, treating patients newly diagnosed with lung abnormalities; lung nodules or lung masses; and evaluate those who have unresolved pneumonia or a persistent cough.

Stage Shift in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer

Presently, most patients in the United States are diagnosed in Stages 3 and 4 of the disease when there are very few options left available to them. With interventional pulmonology, we aim to reach more patients in Stages 1 and 2, where we can optimize treatment, if not cure.

Working Closely with Your Doctor

Our practice works closely with the primary care physicians and specialists who refer patients to us, respecting the relationship that the referring doctor has developed with their patient. You will also be kept abreast of your patient’s situation and progress at all times. We aim to identify, diagnose, and begin treatment within 7-10 days of a patient consultation.

What is Interventional Pulmonology?

Interventional Pulmonology is at the forefront of pulmonary medicine.

We use advanced therapeutic and diagnostic interventional bronchoscopies to diagnose and treat acute malignant or chronic conditions in the airways and/or lungs. Treatments can be palliative, curative, or with the purpose to facilitate healing.

Using these techniques and procedures, the specialists at Lung Health Solutions aim to identify, diagnose, and begin treatment within 7-10 days of a patient consultation. This compares to the current health care system, where it can take up to 120 days to diagnose and start treatment. In this system, patients must also wait for nodules to be large enough for biopsy. Our program can mean less patient and physician anxiety due to the expedited care, and there is the potential for better outcomes as a result of early action and the use of more advanced techniques and procedures to treat the condition.

This is a minimally invasive, ambulatory/outpatient approach to the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, allowing patients to potentially avoid extensive multi-system surgery, along with the complications and costs associated with that.

A minimally invasive approach; expedited care.
